Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Thursday, gave the green signal for works on the much-awaited Hyderabad Metro Rail Project to begin next year, by indicating his agreement for the release of funds.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 4 years.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat, Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration Anam Ramnarayan Reddy revealed that the Centre's clearance was also obtained. He added that the massive project requires 269 acres of land, of which 66 acres is government land while the remaining land will be acquired from private parties.
Ramnarayan Reddy revealed that several companies had responded to the government's call for bids, and of these, 6 companies - including AECM, LBG, MOTT and Scort Willson - have been shortlisted for appointment as the "Independent Agency".
He said that the verification of documents will be completed by November 30, and that the independent agency would be finalized by December 14.
The Urban Development Minister was accompanied by BC Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud and Health Minister Danam Nagender.
Ramnarayan Reddy revealed that the CM had asked officials to take note of peoples' sentiments while taking up the work near the places where people worship.
The CM held a review meeting in which representatives from L&T, Defence, Railway, NH and the Municipality were present.
The proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail project lines are - Nagole to Shilparamam, Miyapur to LB Nagar and Jubilee Bus Stand to Falaknuma.
