BJP state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Friday called upon all political parties in the state to make their stand on Telangana clear before attending the meeting convened by union home minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi, on 6 January 2011.
Talking to media persons at his party office, the BJP leader demanded that the Congress leaders make their stand clear, as he felt they were issuing confusing statements on Telangana state formation.
Stating that the BJP would stand by the Telangana state formation, Kishen Reddy demanded that all the political parties in the state make their stand clear on the issue before attending the meeting on 6 January.
Hailing the move of the
Congress MPs for observing hunger strike for lifting all the police cases against Telangana students and agitators, the BJP leader demanded that they launch another fast in New Delhi to mount pressure on the centre for the introduction of the Telangana bill in the Parliament.
He asked the Congress leaders to clear rumours appearing in a section of the media, that the centre was considering setting up a second states reorganization commission to look into the demands for establishing smaller states.
Blaming the state government for turning state into `police raj’, Kishen Reddy demanded the immediate withdrawal of the central paramilitary forces from the state, who he said were creating a sense of fear among the people.
"The state has not witnessed any disturbing incidents even after the submission of the Srikrishna Committee's report," Kishen Reddy pointed out, "this indicates that the people are observing restraint, and are helping the government in the maintenance of law and order."
