Excise and Prohibition Minister V Srinivas Goud today said that the government of Telangana would suppress illegal drug peddlers with an iron hand.
He was speaking after felicitating some excise officials at his office for seizing 5 kg of Mepidrin worth Rs 2 crore.
He appreciated the excise DCP Vijay Bhaskar and the latter's team for the seizure of the contraband, and said that the government would in future too honour and reward all the officials helping to stamp out the illegal drug menace in the state.
Goud added that the excise officials had prepared a plan of action to curb the menace of illegal drugs, and were staying vigilant to monitor any such activities, especially on the Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chattisgarh borders.
He also instructed the officials to eliminate in 30 days the sale and distribution of all such drugs from Telangana.
The minister warned of stern action against those involved in the sale and transportation of such drugs, and reminded them of KCR's recent strong pronouncements to that effect.
