Congress Demands Drug Tests For All BRS MLAs

Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav today urged the police to conduct drug tests on all BRS MLAs.
Hyderabad | 29th October 2024
Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, of the Congress, today urged the police to conduct drug tests on all Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLAs.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Yadav said that some BRS MLAs appeared to be involved every time some drug issues came to light, and that the rest of them then promptly responded with dismissive statements.

"If the BRS MLAs have any sense of shame, they should voluntarily undergo drug testing," he said.

The Congress MP criticised BRS working president K T Rama Rao for shielding individuals like Raj Pakala (KTR's brother-in-law) and Vijay Madduri who were booked in criminal cases for allegedly possessing foreign liquor beyond permissible limits.

The MP alleged that Madduri, whom he referred to as KTR's "benami" (proxy), had admitted before the police that he had both used drugs and obtained them from Pakala. But Madduri's statements to the police had since changed, Yadav said, and accused KCR's family of interfering in these investigations.

The Congress MP also disputed the portraying of the events held at the controversial Janwada farmhouse of Pakala as Diwali festivities and housewarming functions.

He further condemned the past government's handling of the drug issue, alleging that drug usage had spread widely, reaching even school children. "The previous government allowed drugs to infiltrate the State, and the current government seems to be actively promoting this menace," Yadav said.
