The Justice Srikrishna Committee (Telangana Committee) formed to examine the request for division of Andhra Pradesh is all set to start the second phase of its study, by touring Uttarandhra this time.
The Committee started its field studies, to gauge the pulse of the population in various parts of the state, over a month back, by visiting Mahboobnagar in Telangana and Kurnool in Rayalaseema first to talk to the people of those places. Now it has decided to get a feel of the emotions in the backward areas of Uttarandhra.
It is said that this time Justice Srikrishna himself will be touring the areas along with his co-members. In the earlier tours, only 2 members of the 5-member Committee were actually out there.
The second round of interactions and field tours will start with the team first being in Hyderabad on May 6 and 7 and holding additional meetings with a cross-section of leaders. The members will then proceed on to the interior parts of the state.
While over 68,000 opinions have been submitted to the Committee, only about 3,000 have been approved for serious consideration. The field trips of the Committee members are aimed to give them additional and important direct inputs, in additions to what the written submissions communicate.
