Former minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy on Friday called upon Congress leaders from the Seemandhra region to strengthen the Congress party in their areas.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Anam said that when the Congress was in power and in good shape, several leaders had enjoyed their posts and other benefits, but that some leaders started leaving the party when it plunged into bad times.
Admitting that the Congress is in bad shape in the Seemandhra region, he appealed to the leaders to render their services during a crisis.
In an indirect reference to former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said that certain leaders, who have been associated with Congress for 3 generations, left it during the crisis.
Anam said that the location for the new capital for the residual State of Andhra Pradesh would be finalised after holding consultations with all leaders. He admitted that Seemandhra leaders had failed to keep the state united, but said that Seemandhra leaders would now focus their attention on the development of their own state, and would try to leave Hyderabad before the end of the 10-year period for the common capital.
Former minister Dr. N Raghuveera Reddy was also present. (INN)
