The South Central Railway began its Rajbhasha Week Celebrations 2013 today.
Senior Rajbhasha Adhikari Laxman Shivhare said that Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Union of India on September 14, 1949, and that to mark this memorable event, the Hindi week is celebrated by the SCR from September 10 to 16 every year.
Also, September 14 is celebrated as Hindi Day. During this week, the SCR conducts various programs in Hindi to reiterate the importance of the official language.
The programs conducted on the inaugural day included Hindi Shrutlekhan, Hindi typing and Hindi quiz competitions. The Hindi quiz included questions from various fields such as general knowledge, constitutional provisions for the "rajbhasha", railways, health, environment and science. Spot cash awards were given away to the winners. Officers and employees participated in large numbers, and showed great enthusiasm.
A Hindi Geet Antakshari program will be organised (level-wise) from September 11, 2013, onwards. The valedictory function will be held on September 16. (INN)
