Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao has announced that he would construct his proposed temple for Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Nandigama near Shadnagar.
Speaking to media persons in Hyderabad, Shankar Rao said that he owns about 9.5 acres of land in Nandigama, where he would construct the temple for Sonia Gandhi. He said he was doing so to thank Sonia Gandhi for accepting the demand for the formation of Telangana.
Further, Shankar Rao informed the press that he was writing a letter to the President of India and the Group of Ministers (GoM) to name the Telangana state after Sonia Gandhi. He said that the name should be included in the Telangana Bill itself.
Criticising Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for opposing Telangana, Shankar Rao remarked that a "surya namaskar" is done during sunrise and not in the afternoon, adding that the Chief Minister was trying to stop Telangana after the Centre had almost completed the process of the state's division.
Accusing him of insulting minister P Balaraju, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribes, Shankar Rao demanded that the Chief Minister resign from his post and tender an apology to all the STs in the state. (INN)
