A Social Welfare Deputy Director was nabbed red-handed by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000 to release the 2nd quarter budget.
According to ACB sources, the accused has been identified as Muvva Laxmi Sudha (34), and the bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 was recovered from her office table drawer at her instance.
Subsequent searches unearthed an amount of Rs. 1,46,360, the bribe amounts received from other hostel wardens of the district on the same day. Another Rs. 1.4 lakh was recovered from her residence during searches.
