Three separate road accidents claimed the lives of six people in Nellore district on Sunday.
In a major accident, an Innova crashed into a stationary lorry off the highway at NTR Nagar. The family of four who were travelling by the car died on the spot. Hailing from Venkannapalem in T P Guduru, the four had been on their way to Velankani in Tamil Nadu when the accident occurred.
Family members of the deceased arrived after being informed. In the meantime, the police had shifted the deceased bodies’ to the hospital for post-mortem.
In another incident, a private travels bus from Karnataka rammed into a bike from behind at Shantinagar, killing the pillion-rider on the spot. The rider sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital where he was undergoing treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
Enraged by the incident, the locals set the bus on fire.
The third accident occurred when a car and a bike collided head-on on the Siripuram road near Kavali. Reports stated that the biker died on the spot.
