In a significant development in the Telangana phone-tapping case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing it has issued a notice to BRS working president K T Rama Rao.
He has been summoned to appear for questioning at the ACP's office in Jubilee Hills at 11 am on Friday.
The notice was served at KTR's residence in Nandinagar under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The SIT is investigating allegations that the phones of opposition leaders were tapped during the run-up to the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, and KTR is expected to be questioned in connection with the case.
The phone-tapping episode has triggered widespread attention across the country. Several senior police officials allegedly involved in the case have already been arrested, and the investigation has now expanded to include political leaders. Recently, the SIT questioned former minister Harish Rao after issuing him a notice. Officials reportedly interrogated him for several hours and collected crucial information.
The issuance of the notice to KTR has now become a major political talking point in the State.
Reacting strongly to the notice issued to KTR, Harish Rao accused the Congress government of attempting to divert public attention. "Yesterday they issued notices to me, and today to KTR. They do not have the courage to answer questions on the coal scam. No matter how many notices Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issues, we will not stop until the six guarantees and 420 promises are implemented. There is no question of letting Revanth Reddy go," Harish Rao said.
