KTR Appears Before SIT In Phone-Tapping Probe
BRS leaders protested in huge numbers at the Jubilee Hills police station.

BRS working president K T Rama Rao today appeared at the Jubilee Hills police station for questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the phone-tapping case linked to the previous BRS government.
The SIT had issued a notice to KTR on January 22 under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), directing him to appear at 11 am at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Jubilee Hills.
KTR entered the police station alone, as several senior party leaders accompanying him, including former minister Harish Rao, were not permitted to enter.
Tensions had flared earlier in the day as KTR departed from Telangana Bhavan to the police station. A large crowd of BRS supporters followed his vehicle, leading to chaotic scenes. Police attempted to disperse the crowd by shutting the gates of Telangana Bhavan, triggering a scuffle in which several party workers, including women leaders, were injured.
Angry BRS leaders and supporters then raised slogans accusing the government of authoritarianism, and alleged that the police had unlawfully entered the party office.
The situation escalated further as police surrounded Telangana Bhavan, closed both entrances and restricted access, trapping people inside. Despite these measures, party supporters waiting outside pursued KTR's convoy on motorcycles and in cars. Police erected barricades at multiple points along the route to Jubilee Hills and stopped vehicles that were following him.
Protests continued at the Jubilee Hills police station, where former ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Koppula Eshwar, along with former MLAs Shankar Naik and Kranthi Kiran and other BRS leaders, staged a sit-in on the road. They criticised the police action and questioned the manner in which KTR's questioning was being conducted.
