The Sirpur Paper Mills, which were closed for several years, resumed production last week.
The first paper sheet produced in the re-started mill was presented to Working President of the TRS and former minister K T Rama Rao yesterday.
Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa, along with the Vice-President of the factory Mayank Jindal, handed over the paper to Rao.
They thanked Rao whose efforts for the re-opening of the mills when he was minister in the previous cabinet, they said, had resulted in the mills becoming operational again.
Konappa said that the mills had re-opened due to the efforts made by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and former minister K T Rama Rao. He said that the production in the mills had started on February 8, and that all the employees and workers were indebted to the TRS government.
For the uninitiated, the Sirpur Paper Mills, one of the prestigious industrial units of Telangana, were closed for several years.
