Siddipet Traffic ACP Suman Kumar today crushed the silencers of 53 noise-polluting two-wheelers under a road roller at the traffic police station premises.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that a special inspection had been conducted over the past few days targeting vehicles equipped with high-noise silencers, and that the 53 bikes were seized as part of that drive.
He said that some individuals were deliberately altering silencers, which was contributing to noise pollution and causing distress to the public. He pointed out that such altering was an offence, and warned that legal action would be taken against those modifying silencers.
The ACP also warned that anyone reinstalling noise-polluting silencers would also face legal action, and that such vehicle owners even faced jail time.
"Special surveillance has been established to monitor individuals engaging in bike rides during the evenings around Komati Cheruvu, Eggbal Minar, Nasarapura, Ranganayaka Sagar Project and the Siddipet Rural police station bypass roads. And those found violating the rules will be apprehended and face legal consequences," he said.
He also advised parents against allowing minors to drive, and emphasized the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
