Shilpa Chakrapani Quits TDP, To Join YSR Congress

MLC Shilpa Chakrapani (male) today resigned from the TDP and is likely to join the YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh.

Chakrapani is the brother of Shilpa Mohan Reddy, who joined the YSRCP recently and is contesting the Nandyal Assembly by-election on a YSRCP ticket.

When in the TDP, Shilpa Mohan Reddy had strongly opposed the entry of Bhooma Nagireddy into the TDP as both groups were strong rivals for a long time, political sources said. With demise of Nagireddy, his daughter Akhila Priya was inducted into the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet. With this the Shilpa brothers were disappointed, and Mohan Reddy joined the YSRCP and was selected as candidate for the Nandyal Assembly by-poll by the main opposition party.

Shilpa Chakrapani, too, has followed suit now, and has reportedly sent his resignation letter to TDP supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu by fax. YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy reportedly assured Chakrapani that a responsible post would be given to him in the party.
