The Communist Party Of India, on Sunday, demanded that the state government set up Special Courts to settle the land disputes across AP.
Talking to reporters at Indravelli on the sidelines of the Telangana Praja Poru Yatra, which entered Adilabad district on Sunday, CPI State Secretary K Narayana said that lakhs of acres of government land have been either already encroached upon by anti-social elements or are being encroached. He said that the Rangarao Commission has identified several cases of encroachment on government lands.
Stating that the party's own survey has revealed that about 75 lakh acres of government land was under encroachment or litigations, he demanded that the government take immediate measures to restore the lands and free them from litigations by setting up Special Courts across the state.
He warned that the CPI would launch a massive agitation demanding the restoration of government land and their distribution among the landless poor. (INN)
