KCR Condemns Seemandhra Protests

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president KCR said that the Seemandhra people were protesting because they could not swallow their pride.
Hyderabad | 21st November 2010
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday condemned the protests undertaken by students from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra against the postponement of the recruitment tests for the sub-inspectors posts.

Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, KCR also blamed Chief Minister K Rosaiah for the turn of events and the spate of protests, first by Osmania University students, and subsequently by Seemandhra students.

The TRS chief said that if Rosaiah had paid heed to sane advice and acted in time, the question of any protest would not have risen at all. Rosaiah has been negligent, the TRS chief bluntly stated.

KCR, turning his attention to the protests in Seemandhra region, wondered what harm would anyone suffer if the tests were postponed by another month.

The Telangana protagonist tried to dilute the protests by the people from Seemandhra by saying that they were resorting to protests only because they are unable to swallow their pride. The TRS chief added that the opposition to the tests by the people of Telangana was legitimate, since the issue had been contentions from the time of the Nizam's rule.

KCR also questioned the right of the leaders of Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions to talk about unity among the 3 regions of the state.

The TRS chief further revealed that he would take up the issue of the problems being faced by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) contract labourers. He added that 'his government' would regularise the services of GHMC contract labourers after it came to power following the creation of a separate Telangana state.
