TDP MP Venugopal Reddy denied brandishing a knife in the Lok Sabha during the tabling of the Telangana Bill on Thursday.
Speaking to media personnel, Venugopal Reddy said that he had snatched a microphone from the Lok Sabha Secretary General and that that microphone may have mistaken as a knife.
"I pulled the mic that was in front of the Secy General. It may have looked like a knife. I have not carried the knife in the House. I have high regards of democracy," he said.
Venugopal Reddy said that his claim could be verified from the footage that had been recorded by 10 cameras in the House. Instead, he said that he had been physically attacked by 10 MPs and he would lodge a complaint against them.
The TDP MP said that the day would be remembered as a "Black Day" in the history of Indian democracy due to the tabling of the Telangana Bill. Stating that the Speaker should not be in the clutches of the government, he asked as to how the Bill could be introduced when the House was not in order. (INN)
