Three Congress MPs from the Seemandhra region on Friday began a two-day fast, demanding that the Centre stop the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The MPs - Lagadapati Rajagopal, G V Harsha Kumar and Sabbam Hari - along with their supporters, launched the fast at Dharna Chowk at Indira Park. Their fast coincided with the resuming of the Assembly session, which was scheduled to discuss the Telangana Bill.
The MPs asked legislators from the Seemandhra region to insist on passing a resolution in the Assembly to keep the state united.
Several state ministers from Seemandhra, and MLAs, including G Srinivasa Rao and K Parthasarathy, visited the hunger strike camp to express their solidarity with the fasting MPs. The fast will continue till 9pm on Saturday. (INN)
