Leaders from the Seemandhra region have intensified their efforts to stall the process of formation of a separate Telangana state.
While some leaders are busy lobbying with the Congress High Command to prevent the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, some leaders are meeting senior officials to get first-hand information on any developments related to the creation of Telangana.
According to sources, state minister and Seemandhra Legislators Forum convener S Sailajanath and 2 MLCs (Rudraraju Padmaraju and P Venkat Rao) met officials of the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi, on Thursday. Though the purpose of their visit is not definitely known, sources say that the trio wanted to check whether the ministry has prepared a cabinet note on Telangana or not.
It may be mentioned here that getting the nod of the Union cabinet would be a key milestone in the formation of Telangana, as it would immediately lead to the formation of an Empowered Group of Ministers. (INN)
