Pointing out that it was the Congress that had granted the Telangana people's desire and carved out a separate Telangana state, Congress senior leader and former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy said that the Telangana people know quite well that the formation of Telangana was possible only because of the Congress.
He also said that he himself had also played a pivotal role in uniting Telangana Congress MPs for achieving statehood for Telangana.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reddy said that the formation of Telangana would not have been possible had he not resigned from the Union Cabinet for pressing the Party High Command to grant the Telangana people's desire.
He also revealed that he had rejected offers to make him the Chief Minister of the then united Andhra Pradesh, just to fight for a separate Telangana state.
It may recalled here that KCR had criticised Jaipal Reddy on Tuesday at an election meeting at Warangal that everybody knew how Reddy had enjoyed a berth in the then Union cabinets from 2004 to 2014, and that a person like that could not question KCR on where he was during the Sakala Janula Samme. KCR had also asked the people to teach a fitting lesson to Reddy for "spreading falsehoods in the Warangal election".
Reddy also charged KCR with criticizing the Congress unfairly due to fear of defeat in the Warangal parliamentary by-election.
Alleging that Rao had come to power through false campaigning, Reddy said that everybody knew how KCR continued his hunger strike in 2009.
"KCR never gave an explanation for why he withdrew his hunger strike, and continued it with the fear of pressure mounted by public organizations then," he pointed out.
