The Samaikyandhra protests have been going on for a period of 48 days. While there is participation from all the Seemandhra districts, Anantapur stands out in coming up with a variety of ways to agitate.
The Seemandhra agitation saw a new area of creativity in the people of Anantapur. Rallies, slogans-raising, placards-flashing and stone-throwing are passe. Here, government employees took to walking on knees, jumping in gunny-bags, climbing trees with placards, standing on one leg, and bathing on the roads.
These protests are receiving footage more for their uniqueness rather than the cause.
Meanwhile, RTC buses in all 13 depots of the district have been wearing a deserted look. A total of 1,000 buses have been prevented from entering here, causing hindrance to the public. Also, the APSRTC has been facing huge losses here thanks to the strike.
