The government will step up security for the opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu, who is currently touring Medak district.
The decision to increase the former chief minister's security was taken based on reports that there were clashes between TDP and TRS activists when the TDP convoy entered Pragnapur, Gajwel in Medak district.
The local police tried to intervene and brought the situation under control.
According to sources, Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao met Chief Secretary SV Prasad and apprised him about the incident, following which the government gave the nod to increase Naidu's security. The former chief minister is already covered by Z category security.
