TRS Working President K T Rama Rao today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks against the TRS government during his (Modi's) election campaign in Telangana.
KTR also slammed TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for "unnecessarily" targeting TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao to woo voters.
KTR was addressing a meeting of city builders who extended support to TRS Secunderabad MP candidate Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav, at a hotel.
Rao said that the BJP government at the Centre had not helped the State government in any development works. "There is no Modi wave any more in the country, and the dissatisfied people are looking towards regional parties to lead the nation, since they know that national parties do nothing for them," he claimed.
"Look at the facts. Though Telangana is contributing Rs 50,000 crore every year to the Centre in the form of income tax and other Central taxes, the Modi government gives just Rs 25,000 crore back to us. And though Niti Ayog recommended a grant of Rs 24,000 crore to Telangana, the Modi government ignored it. Also, while Telangana is helping in nation building, the Centre has accorded national status to the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh but did not give the same to the Kaleshwaram or Palamur projects. This sort of partisan attitude by the Centre should be condemned and the people should teach them a lesson," KTR said.
"It is time for us to win 16 MP seats to dictate terms to the Centre and achieve our rights. The people of the State should help elect 16 TRS MPs and one MIM candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This will help us to wrest the required funds for the State's development. The regional parties will certainly win the elections and come to power through a coalition at the Centre this time, and a federal front led by KCR will play a key role against the BJP and the Congress after the elections," he added.
