Telangana State Election Commissioner Partha Sarathi today instructed all the candidates who had contested in this year's
GHMC elections to submit their election expenditure reports by January 18, exactly 45 days after the elections, as was mandated by the rules of the SEC.
"Of a total of 1,122 candidates, only 999 have submitted the relevant details. The remaining 123 candidates must also provide their expenditure reports by January 18, latest. Since the Pongal holiday is next week, I would urge the candidates to submit their affidavits at the earliest," he said.
"Candidates who fail to furnish the relevant details by the deadline will lose the chance to contest for any GHMC posts for the next three years. Candidates who have been elected as corporators this year will also lose their posts," he added.
The Commissioner convened a meeting with the SEC's officials on the matter and asked them to collect the details of the status of the candidates' submissions of the financial details, and to submit a report on the same by January 25.
He also instructed the officials to issue notices to the candidates who failed to follow the instructions issued in the SEC statement.
