Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreyya, on Friday, described the Supreme Court's decision to cancel 122 licenses of 2G spectrum as a "slap" on the face of the UPA government.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Bandaru Dattatreyya said that it was the BJP that had raised the 2G issue in Parliament, demanding Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's intervention.
He added that the Prime Minister and other top leaders of the UPA government had remained silent on the issue, and expressed relief that the Supreme Court has finally done justice.
Describing Manmohan Singh as a weak and failed Prime Minister, Bandaru said that the present situation could have been avoided if the Prime Minister had intervened at an appropriate time.
He also questioned the silence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on the Supreme Court's order. He demanded that Union Ministers P Chidambarm and Kabil Sibal resign from their posts.
Regarding the junior doctors' strike, Bandaru said that the state government must hold talks and resolve the issue at the earliest.
He said that the government was wrongly trying to project an increase in stipend as the only demand of the striking junior doctors, and that the junior doctors had actually raised several other genuine demands that must be resolved. (INN)
