Jeweller's Son Stages Kidnap

Charminar Police went in a tizzy on Tuesday, when a rich businessman approached them that his son was kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of Rs. 2.5 crores.

According to the police, the owner of Santlal Jewellers, Hemanth Kumar Gupta, approached the Charminar police on Tuesday with a complaint that his son Yash Gupta (21) had been kidnapped by unidentified persons on Monday night.

Gupta is the owner of Santlal Jewellers at Basheer Bagh, and is a resident of Charminar.

Gupta's complaint stated that some unidentified persons called his son at around 9:30pm on Monday night and told Yash Gupta to come to the High Court. He said that after this, at around 10:30pm, he received a call from Yash Gupta's mobile.

Gupta said that the caller's voice was not familiar to him. The caller told Gupta that his son was kidnapped, and allowed him to talk to Yash Gupta. Yash Gupta told his father that he had been taken to Pizza Corner at Banjara Hills and then to Secunderabad.

The alleged kidnapper then spoke again to Gupta, and demanded Rs. 2.5 crores in ransom for the safe release of his son.

Acting on the complaint, the police immediately formed 2 special teams to nab the kidnappers.

According to highly-placed sources, the police has learnt that the entire episode was a drama played out by Yash Gupta, and that he has already been arrested.

The sources say that Yash Gupta had planned and executed the entire kidnapping drama with the help of his love-interest.

The sources further say that the businessman's son was traced with the help of his cell-phone signals.
