Employees of the judicial department took out a rally and held a demonstration in Nellore city on Saturday. They expressed their strong opposition to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Holding banners and placards, they raised slogans against the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) to split the state.
They appealed to the Centre to avoid taking any hasty steps with regards to the creation of a separate state, as Andhra Pradesh's development would be possible only if it remains united.
Meanwhile, a large number of women and APNGOs (AP Non Gazetted Officers) took out a protest rally and formed a human chain at the Gandhi statue in Nellore, as a part of their continuing agitation. They asserted that they are prepared to face any odds for the cause of preventing the bifurcation of the state.
District level officials and gazetted officers were also participants in these protests. Additional Joint Collector Ch. Penchala Reddy said that the district officials would extend support to the striking employees, as they consider the unity of the state more important than any other aspect in the present context.
He said that all Seemandhra employees are now speaking as one voice, against the division of the state.
The NGOs' leaders demanded that Seemandhra union ministers, state ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs resign immediately in support of the agitation. Women employees of the irrigation department wore black sarees and took part in the demonstrations.
They criticised TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and AICC president Sonia Gandhi, accusing them od creating a rift between the people of different regions in the state.
The members of the United Teachers' Front (UTS) continued their relay hunger strike, which has entered its 19th day on Tuesday.
