TSRTC MD V C Sajjanar today responded on the suicide of a driver of the corporation, Rajaiah, a native of Godavarikhani in Peddapalle district.
Sajjanar said that the management of the corporation was not responsible for the suicide, and that he had learnt that Rajaiah had taken the extreme step due to personal problems.
Sajjanar refuted the reports that the denial of his (Rajaiah's) request for transfer from the JBS depot by the officials of the corporation was responsible for the suicide, and said that Rajaiah had been transferred to the JBS depot three months back on his own request.
Sajjanar said that Rajaiah had urged the corporation to transfer him to Hyderabad so that he could stay along with his son and other family members, and that Rajaiah had never requested them to transfer him again from the JBS depot.
Sajjanar added that Rajaiah had discharged his duties on November 23 for the last time before taking to the extreme step.
The MD also asserted that the corporation was committed to the welfare of its staff, and that it had taken up several welfare programs for their growth.
He advised media organisations to not carry any unverified news that could impact the reputation of the corporation, and asked them to first seek the explanations of the officials concerned.
