Fasting CPI Leader Taken To NIMS, Says Govt Ruthless

Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao, who was on a fast-unto-death in support of the ongoing bus strike, was arrested and taken to the NIMS emergency ward for treatment.
Hyderabad | 28th October 2019
CPI Telangana leader Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao, who went on an indefinite fast in support of the striking TSRTC workers, on Monday alleged that the State government was ruthlessly against those who were holding peaceful protests.

Rao made these remarks while talking to mediapersons at NIMS.

Rao, who was on a fast-unto-death at the party headquarters in support of the ongoing bus strike, was arrested by the Narayanguda police in the middle of the night and taken to the NIMS emergency ward for treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Koonamneni said that he would not stop his protest until the State government fulfilled all the demands of the RTC workers.

He declined to take medical treatment at the hospital, and is continuing his fast there.

Recalling that as an MLA he gave moral support to KCR when the latter came to Khammam district during the Telangana statehood agitation, Rao said that it was unfair for KCR, who came up from an agitation background himself, to do injustice to the RTC workers.
