Justifying the demand of a 42% quota in Judiciary jobs for people from Telangana, Government Whip S Sailajanath, on Thursday, appealed to Telangana leaders not to resort to violence before the Srikrishna Commission submits its report on December 31st.
Talking to media persons at the CLP Media Point, Sailajanath said though the lawyers' demand was just, they should not resort to
ransacking of court property and boycotts.
"The lawyers can raise their demands in a peaceful manner, abiding by the Constitution, without harming the interests of others," Sailajanath said.
"As per the Gentleman's Agreement, the High Court should be set up in Kurnool. However, the High Court was set up in Hyderabad region as per the agreement. Seemandhra leaders also suffered heavy losses - due to the establishment of the capital in Hyderabad - both industrial and economical," Sailajanath pointed out.
The Government Whip urged government to appoint a scheduled-caste candidate for the post of Advocate-General in order to address the regional imbalances.
Sailajanath said that Seemandhra leaders will meet on Friday to chalk out the future course of action to be adopted on various issues.
