Seemandhra Leaders Meet At Ganta's Home
Congress Seemandhra leaders convened a meeting earlier today at the residence of minister Ganta Srinivas Rao to decide their plan of action regarding the Telangana issue.
Congress leaders against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh convened a meeting earlier today at the residence of minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao to decide their plan of action regarding the Telangana issue.
With rumours flitting about the "imminent" announcement of statehood for Telangana, the ministers have decided that they need to be firm when it comes to keeping the state together.
At the meeting, they discussed various possibilities and measures to keep the state united, while countering all the objections of proponents of a seperate Telangana. These measures they will put forth to the High Command during their visit to New Delhi scheduled for 21 January, right after the AICC Chintan Shivir happening in Jaipur right now.
Said Minister Sailajanath, "Around 50 MPs, MLCs, MLAs and other leaders are expected to go to the national capital to meet the High Command, and to put forth our demand to keep the state united. Dividing the state will cause heavy losses to all the parties involved, and everyone, right from students to activists, is protesting against it. AP must remain undivided for the benefit of all those involved."
Sailajanath also shot down news coming in from certain quarters that a seperate Telangana is as good as reality. "All of these are rumours, and we haven't gotten any concrete news of the sort," he said.
