State minister and Seemandhra Congress Legislators Forum convener S Sailajanath, on Wednesday, dismissed the demand for the resignation of MLAs from the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Sailajanath said that MLAs need to retain their posts, since he fears that the absence of Seemandhra MLAs would facilitate the passing of a Telangana Bill in the state Legislative Assembly. "Seemandhra MLAs must be in the House in order to defeat the Telangana Bill," he opined.
Sailajanath also appealed to Seemandhra leaders to unite instead of issuing statements against one another other. He said that the focus of all Seemandhra leaders should be on preventing the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He also accused the TDP and YSRCP of trying to take political advantage of the situation.
Meanwhile, he condemned the attack on Seemandhra employees who were returning from the APNGOs public meeting on September 7.
He also criticized TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, and accused him of giving priority to the welfare of his own family rather than to that of the general public, adding that KCR is not serious about the Telangana cause. (INN)
