Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MAUD) minister K T Rama Rao today said that the state government had adopted a multi-pronged approach for the development of the capital, and that plans had been prepared to take up 70 road development works at a cost of Rs. 37,000 crore under the flagship SRDP (Strategic Road Development Project) program.
Replying to questions raised by the members in the Assembly during Question Hour, KTR said that the government had already taken up 47 development works at a cost of Rs. 8,528 crore under the SRDP, and that it had spent Rs. 2,497 crore of that so far.
He said that the government had completed 27 of the 47 works so far, and that the remaining 20 works were at different stages of completion, including a new flyover at Bahadurpura that would soon be inaugurated.
He added that with the state capital witnessing rapid urbanisation the government was constructing flyovers and underpasses to ease the growing traffic on the city roads, and claimed that entrepreneurs who were visiting the state were getting surprised by the development.
