Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today said that 137 link roads would be laid in Hyderabad for improving the connectivity between various areas.
He added that Rs 313.65 crore would be spent on the project, which would also help reduce the traffic snarls.
KTR was speaking with the media after inaugurating three link roads. The first one is from Jubilee Hills Road No 45 to the old Bombay Road (Leather Park area), and costing Rs 15.5 crore.
He also laid the foundation for a VUP (Vehicular Under Pass) bridge near the Leather Park, that would cost Rs. 23.1 crore.
The second link road is from Old Bombay Road to Chitrapuri Colony in Khajaguda via the Delhi Public School, 2.3 km in length and costing Rs 19.51 crore.
The third link road is of 1.2 km, from Nizampet to Miyapur costing Rs. 7.75 crore. This road is to be developed like Necklace Road.
"Our aim is to reduce traffic problems as well as pollution. For the purpose the link roads are being developed on a priority," the minister said.
There were 35 link roads at various levels of completion, KTR said.
Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MP Ranjit Reddy, MLC Naveen Rao, MLA Arekepudi Gandhi, Corporators Nagender and Venkatesh, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran and others participated in the program.
