YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday took serious exception to the alleged atrocious behaviour of police personnel towards his Party MLA Roja.
Roja was whisked away to the Nampally police station on Saturday as she attempted to enter the Assembly premises despite
the ban on her, and Reddy visited the police station and consoled her.
There was a mild argument between Jagan and the police officials when the former questioned them about their rude behaviour towards the MLA. Jagan asked the police how could they arrest Roja, who was not well. Was this how the police behaved towards an MLA, he demanded.
There was tension on the Assembly premises earlier during Roja's arrest. Jagan took serious objection to the police preventing the suspended member from entering the Assembly premises. Though suspended members were not allowed to enter teh Assembly hall, how could the marshals prevent them from moving on the Assembly premises, he asked. The YSRCP members in general alleged that the police had behaved atrociously towards them.
Jagan said that though Roja had told the police clearly that she had not come there to stage a protest but to go to the YSRCP Legislature Party Office, the marshals shunted her out of the Assembly premises forcibly. He also pointed out that Roja had lost consciousness while being arrested and suffered an injury to her leg in the melee.
The Nampally police took Roja to the NIMS hospital where she is being treated.
