Demanding a review of GO No 317, government teachers today attempted to storm the State Assembly.
The agitating teachers said that a situation has arisen where families were getting divided on account of the GO, and urged the State government to give posts on the basis of nativity and not seniority.
At a stage, the police intervened and arrested the agitating government teachers.
The teachers lamented that they were being arrested illegally when all they were trying to do was meet the Chief Minister to explain their tales of woe due to the GO. They said that injustice was being rendered to them in the hard-earned Telangana State.
Meanwhile, Village Revenue Assistants (VROs) attempted to storm the Ministers' Quarters at Banjara Hills, and were thwarted by the police. That led to the VROs and the police personnel engaging in heated arguments. The former claimed that 36 distressed VROs had committed suicides under enormous mental pressure, and demanded that the CM fulfill the promises he had made to the VROs. They also demanded that the State government immediately revise their pay scales upward.
The police shifted the arrested VROs to a police station.
The police had announced alerts after the VROs and teachers' unions had given calls for the storming of the Assembly, and had also imposed a ban order under Section 144 of the CrPC.
