Road Accident Near Hyderabad Claims Six Lives

Six people, including a child, lost their lives in a road accident at Malkapur Gate in Chevella mandal on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway today, about 50 km away from the city.

According to the police, 11 members of a family from Tadbun were travelling to Gurmitkal in Karnataka in their Innova, when the SUV collided with a borewell rig coming from the opposite direction in their attempt to overtake another vehicle.

Six people, including a child, died on the spot.

The victims have been identified as Asif Khan, Nazia Begum, Sania, Arsha, Nazia Banu and a six-year-old girl.

Their bodies have been sent for post mortem to a hospital in Chevella.

Four others, identified as Karina Begum, Ayum Khan, Nisar Baig and Anwar Khan, were also injured in the incident. They have been rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

The accident caused a 2 km-long traffic jam on the highway. It was later cleared by the police after they removed the wreckage from the accident site.
