A tragic accident occurred in Jalalpur, Bhoodan Pochampally mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district today, claiming the lives of five people when the car they were travelling in lost control and plunged into a tank.
The incident took place in the early hours, while the victims were travelling from Kothagudem towards Pochampally on the national highway. Locals pulled the car out of the tank and found that five of the occupants had already died.
The deceased have been identified as Vamsi Goud, Dinesh, Harsha, Balu and Vinay Goud, all aged between 22 and 25 years.
A sixth person in the car, a young man named Manikanta, was reported to be safe.
All the victims were from Hyderabad's Hayatnagar RTC colony.
It is believed that the car lost control and fell into the tank due to over-speeding and the driver's drowsiness.
The police arrived at the scene and inspected the site. The bodies were recovered and sent to a local government hospital for post-mortems. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
