Revanth Reddy's Remand Extended Till July 13
The ACB court extended the judicial remand of the Telangana TDP MLA till July 13. The judgement in Reddy's bail plea in the High Court comes up tomorrow.
Hyderabad | 29th June 2015
The Special Court for ACB Cases on Monday extended the judicial remand of Telangana TDP MLA Revanth Reddy and two others, accused in the note-for-vote case, till July 13.
Reddy, along with his accomplices Uday Simha and Sebastian, was arrested by ACB officers on May 31 after a sting operation, for allegedly trying to woo nominated Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson with money to vote in favour of the TDP nominee Vem Narender Reddy in the recent Telangana MLC elections.
Since the judicial remand of the accused would expire today, the ACB prosecutors filed another memo in the Special Court seeking further extension on the grounds that the investigations into the deal had reached a crucial stage, and granting bail to the accused could jeopardize the probe.
After perusing the memo and the grounds on which the extension was sought, the court granted the same till July 13.
Meanwhile, the judgment in the bail appeal of Revanth Reddy filed in the High Court is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday).
Also, the time given to another TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, of the Sattupally constituency, to appear before the ACB expires today. Veeraiah has been evading the ACB despite its notice to him to appear before it for recording his statement in connection with the scandal. Speculation is rife that if he fails to respond to the notice, the ACB is likely to arrest him for questioning. Two special teams were stated to have been set up by the investigating officers for the purpose.
The ACB also seemed to be getting ready to take required measures to conduct the voice test of AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the scam. (NSS)
