TPCC chief and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy will make his maiden visit to Nirmal after assuming charge as Telangana Congress chief.
During his July 16 visit to the town, he will reportedly take part in a cycle and oxcart rally that is being organised to protest the "steep and continuous rise" in the prices of domestic LPG, petrol and diesel.
The AICC program committee coordinator Maheshwar Reddy is holding the rally in Nirmal after the AICC issued a call for the organisation of the same on July 12.
The new body of the TPCC has already busied itself in planning various protests programs. Apart from organising rallies against rising fuel prices, it is also planning to hold protests in support of the unemployed youth of Telangana. Reports suggest that the party is planning to hold a two-day-long hunger strike to highlight the negligent attitude of the TRS government towards adressing the issue of rising unemployment in the state.
Further, the TPCC is working on its campaign for the upcoming Huzurabad by-election as well.
There has been a flurry of demonstrations to protest against rising fuel prices in Telangana already. Just last month, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of auto-rickshaw drivers in the state had decided that it would organise a
protest against the soaring prices on June 25.
In this regard, the JAC had even issued a call to all the auto-rickshaw drivers of the state to drive with their headlights turned on throughout the day on June 25.
