Congress leader and MP A Revanth Reddy today slammed the TRS-led state government and the BJP-led Centre for the "failure" of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said, "Though the ITIR had been sanctioned by the previous Congress-led UPA government as it had the potential to create over 50 lakh jobs in Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts, the TRS government dragged its feet over the project for years. The Centre too showed no interest in the project, and has now shelved it altogether. This carelessness and apathy have cost the state millions of jobs. In the end, the entire fiasco over the ITIR just proves one thing - that neither party is truly invested in securing the futures of the youth of Telangana."
"All the TRS does is make false promises to the people in the run-up to the elections in the state, and then forgets all about its election-time assurances as soon as the polling concludes. Perhaps the party should rename itself the Total Reverse Stand party. It is an apt name since the party's leaders are never able to stand by what they say," he alleged.
Ridiculing IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao saying that he "knew nothing about anything", the MP added, "KTR doesn't have a plan or a strategy to revive the project and get it sanctioned. If he did, he would have sent the Centre a detailed project report, and would have ensured that it received the requisite funds."
Ever since the issue of employment generation has become the central theme for the campaigns of the BJP, the TRS, and the Congress for the upcoming MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda, the three parties have regularly been exchanging bitter words over the ITIR project as well.
KTR and state BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar also recently had
a heated exchange on the matter.
