The Telangana government is planning reservations for the SC, ST and Gouda communities in liquor shops.
The existing liquor policy is going to expire by the end of this month, and the government is mulling options for the new liquor policy.
According to reports, Excise Commissioner Sarfaraj Ahmed held a meeting with officials on the new liquor policy, where it was proposed that the new policy should offer reservations for backward communities.
SCs should get 10%, STs 5% and Goudas 15% of the liquor shops this time, the meeting proposed.
Also, there will be 350 more liquor shops allowed in addition to the 2,216 shops in the state as of now, via the new policy, it is being said.
