Harish Rao Slams Government Over Liquor Price Hike

The BRS leader said it was shameful for the government to seek income by raising liquor prices and thus playing with the lives of the common people.
Hyderabad | 18th May 2025
BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao today slammed the State government for increasing the prices of various categories of liquor.

He mocked the government saying its sole focus was on generating more revenue from liquor sales. He also added that it was shameful for the government to seek income by raising liquor prices and thus playing with the lives of the common people. He alleged that the State government was burdening the public by hiking liquor prices, particularly since it had already implemented a 15% increase in the price of retail beer bottles just a few months back.

He also accused the government of failing to fulfill its promise to make suitable amendments to the existing State excise policy following its review.
