Chief Secretary S P Singh today directed officials to make strong security arrangements for the 68th Republic Day celebrations at Secunderabad Parade Grounds on January 26.
The Chief Secretary held a high-level coordination review meeting with officials of all departments along with their heads, and other officials, and laid a plan for the smooth conduct of the R-Day celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that Governor E S L Narasimhan would attend the occasion as chief guest, and tight security arrangements had to be made by the Hyderabad Police and its traffic wing. Besides illuminating the main offices of the government, including Secretariat, Assembly buildings, Gun Park, Necklace Road, Clock Tower and Fateh Maidan, the staff of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would take up a clean-and-green drive and also provide mobile toilets to citizens on the occasion, he said.
RTC buses should be arranged for carrying school students to the Parade Grounds, he said, adding that Ambulances and Fire tenders should be pressed into service at the site.
