Rajaiah Family In Jail; Sarika, Sons Cremated

The bodies of former MP Siricilla Rajaiah's daughter-in-law Sarika and her three young sons were consigned to flames this evening at the Pothana Nagar cremation ghat.

As Rajaiah's family members are in police custody over allegations of the mother and sons being burnt alive, Sarika's mother and her relatives performed the last rites in the presence of a large number of people.

After the post-mortem done under the supervision of experts from Hyderabad, the four bodies were handed over to the relatives.

Viswakarma Samaj, the community to which Sarika belongs, came forward to help in performing the last rites, and Sarika's mother lit the funeral pyre of her daughter and grand-children in the Pothana Nagar Smasan Ghat.

Sarika, the estranged wife of Anil, Rajaiah's son, had been fighting a battle over the latter's extra-marital relationship, and she and her three children were found dead in the first floor of Rajaiah's residence on 4th November, a day before he was to file his nomination papers for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-poll as the Congress candidate.

It may be known after the disclosure of the post-mortem report whether Sarika and her sons were indeed burnt alive or they committed suicide.

In another development, Sana, the woman with whom Sarika's husband Anil was romantically linked, was also taken into custody for questioning.
