Raja Singh Arrested, Suspended From BJP For Anti-Islam Comments

The reportedly controversial and derogatory remarks made by Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, of the BJP, led to his arrest today.

Singh posted a video on Youtube, taken down by the platform now, where he allegedly made insulting comments on the religion. The video led to his arrest.

While he was released by a city court shortly, the comments rattled the top brass of the saffron party.

Acting swiftly on the issue, the party quickly suspended the controversial MLA for violating its constitution.

It also removed him from the post of the floor leader of the BJLP, the member-secretary of the Central Disciplinary Committee, Om Pathak, said.

He said that the party was also taking away all the responsibilities being held by Singh in the party till the completion of the inquiry.

The party also issued him a show cause notice for why he shouldn't be expelled from the party, and asked him to submit his reply to the notice by September 2.

In his letter to Singh, Pathak said that the remarks made by the MLA were contrary to the party's position on various matters.
