"I will quit politics if I am denied a ticket by the BJP," Goshamahal MLA and BJP leader Raja Singh Lodh vowed today.
Singh said that he would never join any of the "secular" parties including the Congress and the BRS, and that he would never contest as an independent candidate either.
He however claimed that the BJP high command was in favour of his candidature, and expressed confidence that the suspension against him would be lifted at the right time.
Taking potshots at the BRS, the hardcore BJP leader said that all the BRS tickets were in the hands of its electoral ally the MIM, and would be finalised from the MIM's headquarters in Darussalam.
He also said that his goal was to turn Telangana into a Hindu State.
Singh was suspended from the party following his controversial remarks against the Prophet Muhammad in August 2022. He was also booked by the city police and sent to jail for over two months. State BJP president G Kishan Reddy had on May 16 said that the party high command was likely to lift the suspension of Singh, and that he (Reddy) was discussing the withdrawal of the suspension with the high command.
Nevertheless, the comments made by Singh have created a flutter in the State BJP unit.
