BJP leader and Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh today made serious allegations against the Hyderabad town planning officials.
He alleged that the town planning wing of the GHMC was corrupt, and that they were taking bribes and giving permissions for faulty building constructions.
He made the remarks in the wake of the deaths of three students at a coaching centre in Delhi on Saturday due to floods.
Flood waters had entered the basement of a building in which the UPSC Civil Services Exam coaching centre was running, and killed the three students.
Calling the incident very painful, Singh said that one of the three victims was from Hyderabad, and that the Telangana government should stand by her family.
Singh also said that there was several illegal building constructions in Hyderabad, and that his own Assembly constituency was an example. "There are a lot of illegal coaching centres in Hyderabad as well. I am ready to show the illegal constructions in Goshamahal," he said.
He said that the reason for this was that the town planning officials of the GHMC were corrupt, and gave permissions to building not adhering to norms, in return for bribes.
Stating that a new dynamic lady has assumed charge as the GHMC commissioner, he said that it would be nice if she focused a little on the corruption of the town planning officials.
Singh also said that the Telangana Chief Minister should focus on the town planning department to prevent accidents like the one in Delhi.
