The Railway Vigilance Department has trapped a Railway employee, K S Aditya, a trainee fitter in the office of the Senior Section Engineer, Water Works, at Lallaguda at Secunderabad, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a person by promising him a job in the Railways.
Further investigation revealed that the employee had already received Rs. 2 lakh from the victim, Linga Swamy, in several installments, earlier.
He was caught when he demanded an additional amount of Rs. 50,000.
It was later revealed that Aditya had taken similar amounts from other persons as well, promising them Railway jobs.
The Railway Vigilance Department is investigating this matter further.
The South Central Railway has requested the general public not to fall prey to any individual who promises to get them Railway jobs by illegal means and paying bribes.
It may be mentioned here that earlier as well, the SCR had issued notifications during major recruitment drives, cautioning the public not to indulge in illegal methods for securing jobs in the Railways. (INN)
